Loan claim: UK consumers 'unhappy' with high-street banks

UK consumers continue to be disappointed with the levels of customer service provided by the major high street banks.

Consumer magazine Which? has released its Money People's Choice poll which surveys consumers opinions on their current accounts, savings, credit cards and mortgages.

The research found that First Direct, One Account and Smile customers were the most satisfied while Bank of Scotland, Halifax and Santander were ranked at the bottom of the table.

Peter Vicary-Smith, Which? chief executive, claimed the same firms are continually disappointing customers with their poor service.

He said: "Time and again, the big high street banks are found to be lacking when it comes to good customer service. People who are unhappy with their bank must vote with their feet and move to a better financial provider."

First Direct came top of three satisfaction surveys - current accounts, savings and mortgages – to be ranked first in the overall table.
