Bank refunds: Santander reverts to UK call centres

Santander customers who were looking to get bank refunds may be amongst those who complained when the company's call centres were moved outside of the UK.

According to thisismoney.co.uk, Santander is to move all of its call centres from India back to the UK following feedback from customers who said that dealing with an offshore call centre was frustrating.

Ana Botin, chief executive of Santander UK, is quoted as saying: "Improving the service we offer is my top priority. Our customers tell us they prefer our call centres to be in the UK and not offshore.

"We have listened to the feedback and have acted by re-establishing our call centres back here."

As part of this decision, the bank will be taking on 500 new phone centre staff in order to deal with its customers.

The Santander Group was founded in Spain in 1857. Its profit in 2010 was 8.181 billion euros (£7.301 billion).
