PPI charges: Parents should utilise financial help available

Parents who have had to pay PPI charges may want to think about making the most of all the financial help that is available to them.

Mark Bower, managing director of price comparison website, explained that while parents should not rely wholly on state help, they should make sure they are aware of what is available to them.

He said: "It would appear unwise if financially strapped parents decided to rely on the state to bolster their financial situation at present.

"However, it is also important that they are aware of what help is already available, and we would urge them to seek advice on what help is out there now using the Directgov website."

Mr Bower added that if parents use the government supported website,, they will find ways of "relieving the pressure on their finances".

He also suggested that if it is necessary, parents can talk to an organisation like the Citizens Advice Bureau.
