Bank charges: Inflation 'to steady' for rest of 2011

Consumers who are having trouble with bank charges and are struggling to pay for everyday items may be pleased to hear that an expert believes inflation will remain steady for the rest of the year.

Jasmine Birtles, financial and business commentator and founder of, said that she does not believe inflation will be "horrendous" over the coming months.

"In the next few months we may see inflation abating quite a lot," she said.

"I don't think it'll go down below the two per cent that they are hoping for, but it will reduce because it looks like oil prices have already come down and that has a knock-on effect on gas prices and also on food prices."

The latest consumer price index figures were released by the Office for National Statistics on August 16th.

It showed that inflation stands at 4.4 per cent, an increase of 0.2 per cent compared to June.
