PPI refunds: Motorists missing out on savings by not switching insurance provider

Consumers who are currently awaiting PPI refunds after being mis-sold payment protection insurance could also save money by changing their car insurance provider.

According to research by, Brits are missing out on £2.4 billion each year by not switching.

Peter Harrison, car insurance expert at the price comparison website, said that research continues to show how important shopping around is when it comes to car insurance.

"With the cost of living continuing to spiral, consumers are really feeling the pinch, so it is shocking many motorists are not using this opportunity to protect their hard earned cash," he said.

"The cost of motoring is continuing to increase with car insurance prices up on this time last year and fuel prices up to near record highs."

Mr Harrison noted that motorists can mitigate insurance costs by going online to find out where savings can be made through comparing policies and finding better deals.
