Bank claim: Two-fifths of Brits think banks do not act on their behalf, research finds

Consumers who have tried to make a bank claim may well be among the 42 per cent of people in Britain who think that banks or bank advisers do not act on their behalf.

Research by unbiased.co.uk also found that more people are concerned about what would happen if they lost their jobs, with 32 per cent of Brits saying they would struggle to cope financially if they lost their job, compared to 24 per cent saying the same last year.

Karen Barrett, chief executive of the financial advice website, said: "The state of the UK's financial climate is really beginning to hit home and our research shows that a lot of people would struggle if they were to lose their jobs.

"The continued low interest rate and increasing inflation are having a severe impact on returns on savings while the housing market remains volatile."

Findings from unbiased.co.uk also revealed that 26 per cent of people have learned property is not a completely safe investment.
