PPI Claims: Financial struggles are country-wide

Payment protection refunds could help people in every corner of the country cope with increasingly stretched household finances.

Consumers in all areas of the UK have become more negative about their fiscal situation since January this year, according to new research from Lloyds TSB.

People in the north-east were most affected during this period, as they reported an 11 per cent increase in levels of pessimism, but large numbers of consumers in the West Midlands and London were also affected.

In addition, the bank carried out research to ascertain which age groups were affected by the economic circumstances.

Younger consumers were the most concerned since the start of the year, with both the under-30 and the 30-44 age groups reporting a rise of eight per cent in anxiety levels.

The bank recently revealed that consumers are pessimistic about their employment prospects and are reducing their spending as a result.

Inflation was also a major cause of apprehension as it is now rising quicker than the average wage rise cut.
