PPI Claims: Number of Brits who dislike their bank rises

The PPI scandal, credit card charges and difficulty receiving loan refunds could have led people to distrusting financial institution and recent research has revealed a surge in the number of Brits who dislike their bank

A study from Triodos Bank revealed 5.6 million individuals, or 11 per cent of the UK's adult population, are more dissatisfied with their bank than they were 12 months ago.

Of these people, 24 per cent cited hefty executive bonuses as the reason for this feeling, with 30 per cent arguing it was because the company does not treat them like an individual and 18 per cent claiming they feel negatively about the firm due to excessive profits.

The largest problem was poor service, which was cited by 40 per cent of respondents.

Barclays recently reported a drop in complaint volumes during 2011, indicating rising satisfaction among its customers.

Head of personal banking at Triodos Bank Huw Davies asked: "Surely it should be possible for banks to do more and make things better for their customers and for society as a whole?"
