Loan claims: Psychologist recommends setting aside 'worry time'

People worrying about loan charges, credit card claims or other financial problems may wish to heed suggestions made by a specialist.

Chartered psychologist and Abicord chief executive officer Graham Price recommended individuals set aside 30 minutes every day for the purpose of worrying.

If they find themselves feeling anxious outside of this period, they ought to ensure they defer their concerns to their "worry time", he stated.

When the half-hour comes, they should see whether or not they can remember the things that were making them upset, the psychologist added.

The expert argued people should focus on how to "get more control" over the issues that are causing them stress, or become accepting of the problems if they cannot do this.

"Recognise worry is both irrational and futile," Mr Price declared.

A recent survey by Carers UK revealed nearly 47 per cent of carers have been made physically ill because of money concerns, with 31 per cent incurring bank charges by living on their overdraft.
