Bank refunds: 'Shop around' to save money

People might be able to reduce their outgoings and avoid making loan claims or incurring bank charges by shopping around. co-founder Hilary Bruffell suggested visiting eBay or Freegle when purchasing goods.

A wide range of items can be sourced through these websites, such as sofas, building materials and "complete kitchens", she remarked.

"Just because one person is bored with something doesn't mean it is completely worthless to somebody else," the specialist stated, arguing a "little bit of savvy shopping" can save individuals significant sums of money.

She also recommended that people consider other potential uses for old furnishings when thinking of throwing the item out.

A new throw or a coat of paint could give the product a "new lease of life", Ms Bruffell argued.

She previously asserted that refurbishing or reusing objects can create fun, stylish and unique pieces that are substantially cheaper than brand new designer goods.
