PPI claim scammers strike in North Lincolnshire

Police in Humberside have advised members of the public to be vigilant if they receive a phone call from a person organisation offering them assistance or help when they want to reclaim payment protection insurance (PPI).

Officers have received a number of complaints from people  throughout North Lincolnshire who have been told by a caller that they have pay them an amount of money up-front for them to be able to make a PPI claim.

However, this is fraudulent and individuals who sent the criminals their money have not received payment protection refunds.

The police also believe this advice could apply for companies offering to help people make loan claims or receive credit.

Similar scams have been reported up and down the country, with Gloucestershire Constabulary recently warning local communities about the offence.

"No legitimate company will ask you for money upfront before compensation can be processed," Police Constable Roni Dadge said.
