Loan charges: Poor economic situation 'causes stress'

People struggling with loan claims and credit card charges in the face of a difficult financial environment may be unsurprised to hear the fiscal downturn could be increasing stress among the general populace.

Author of Think Yourself Happy and chartered psychologist Dr Rick Norris said: "Stress does increase the longer our economic troubles have continued."

He pointed out while some people are becoming redundant, which can create feelings of this negative emotion, those with jobs will also be worried because they have to work harder to compensate for a smaller workforce.

Furthermore, employees could "feel more anxious" because of the uncertainty in the wider markets, the psychologist stated.

"Anxiety disorders in particular have increased," Dr Norris remarked, arguing: "The recession has made quite a significant difference."

Director of the Stress Management Society Neil Shah recently suggested that people who are suffering from this negative emotional state should try to resolve the challenges they face, rather than spend time and energy feeling worried.
