Hertfordshire woman receives £65,000 PPI refund

A woman from Hertfordshire has received a credit card payment protection insurance (PPI) refund of almost £65,000.

The BBC reports that the unnamed female secured £64,775 in PPI compensation after paying bank charges on two MBNA cards, one of which she owned since 1996 and the other she had held since 2001.

However, she would never have been able to make a PPI claim through these policies as she is self-employed.

The figure was so high because the cardholder had sometimes used the device to its limit, which increased credit card charges from £10 to as much as £60 every month.

Furthermore, the woman received compound interest for the PPI charges incurred over this timeframe, which sometimes hit 29 per cent.

"It is the very old statements, the very old PPI contributions, that made the bulk of this claim," the recipient was quoted by the news source as saying.

The largest PPI claims payout so far is reportedly £142,000, which was received by a woman from Yorkshire.ADNFCR-2776-ID-801406186-ADNFCR
