Loan charges: Brits can save money 'by switching utility supplier'

People may find it easy to pay off loan claims and bank charges if they manage to reduce their utility bills. spokesman Justin Modray said that switching energy suppliers could potentially allow people to save significant sums of money.

He recommended that bill-payers use comparison tools to compare the whole market, allowing them to find the gas and electricity deal that is best for them.

Some offers are only available for a limited period of time, the expert continued.

As a result, he said: "It is well worth shopping around once a deal you've locked into comes to an end."

Energy deals can have wide variation, Mr Modray said, noting this can occur "between different suppliers and within suppliers themselves".

Insulation could also help members of the public reduce their power bills, with the Energy Saving Trust stating lagging wall spaces can save people as much as £135 every year.
