South Yorkshire Police makes PPI claims warning

Scammers have been striking in South Yorkshire, targeting people who have made online loan claims.

These individuals are called by an organisation that tells them if they purchase a Ukash voucher to cover administration expenses, they can receive a loan claim of any size.

Cold-callers are also falsely offering PPI refunds of around £4,000 or offering fraudulent credit.

PC Andy Woodruff said members of the public - particularly elderly and vulnerable people - ought to be "on their guard" against scams of this type to avoid becoming a victim of the crime.

"If someone phones you and seems to have knowledge of your personal details or circumstances, do not confirm any information with them or provide them with any missing details," he recommended.

The policeman also recommended that people ask for contact numbers and names so they can verify the details of any cold callers.

Anyone with any doubts ought to call the police, PC Woodruff added.
