PPI First Plus

If you have been mis sold PPI or another form of loan protection insurance, you have already considered making a complaint. Picture stopped providing in 2008, but this does not mean that you can no longer make complaints regarding older sales. If you are unsure whether your First Plus PPI policy was mis-sold it is helpful to think about the information you were given at the point of sale and the questions you were asked. Below are some specific examples of mi-selling.

The customer was incorrectly told they had to have the policy or that it would improve their chances of being approved for the loan.

The customer was pressured into taking out the loan.

The customer was sold a single-premium policy that would only provide them with cover for part of their loan repayment period.

The customer was over the age of sixty-five and, therefore, unsuitable for cover.

The customer was suffering from a pre-existing medical condition and was not told it would not be covered or was incorrectly told it would be covered.

The customer was unemployed, retired or in full time education and had no need for PPI which primarily covers loss of employment.

The full terms and conditions or costs were not explained to the customer.

The customer had cover in place elsewhere.

The customer was a member of the civil service or a serving member of the armed forces.

The policy was added without the customer’s knowledge or consent.
